RFID TECHNOLOGY
RFID FACT SHEET
Radio frequency identification is a highly versatile technology for identification purposes. The introduction of RFID into a wide range of supply chain applications enables production and logistics operations to grow closer together technologically. Every RFID tag is uniquely encoded with personalized identification and operates with or without inbuilt battery module. For passive RFID, the internal circuitry is activated by external reader and as for Active RFID, the battery module powers the circuitry constantly and enables the reader to pick up the signal over a longer distance. Information is then transferred to RFID readers through radio wave and gets processed by the software for tracking and reporting purposes.
RFID FIXED MOUNT READERS
Fixed mount RFID readers usually consist of the reader which serves as the brain of the system, accepting and sending input to and fro the antennas and backend system. The antenna is a receivable that picks up the signal from the RFID tag within the interrogation zone and feeds this ID or tag information back to the reader. These fixed readers are set up with specific interrogation zones and create a circular wave of RF energy that can be programmatically controlled to detect within the specific zone. This allows a very definitive reading area to interpret tag movements.
MOBILE HANDHELD RFID READERS
Mobile RFID systems often result in higher Returns On Investment as the systems are commonly used by workers to the point of work whether its on the production floor, the store or the receiving point. It serves as the perfect, economical choice for bringing the read/write device to the tagged object rather than moving objects past a fixed reader. Handheld RFID is also ideal for use in the field for asset tracking, live stock movements, attendance and many other applications. Most of the mobile units are equipped with Microsoft Mobile Operating System which integrates seamlessly with the Microsoft programming platform for fast and easy mobile deployment.
